Siren Song.

Our English teacher showed us a video excerpt from the movie O Brother Where Art Thou since we were studying the Odyssey at the time. I particularly loved the scene where three sirens (siren (noun): overly nymph-like, sensual, etc.) sing. Their outfits are extremely inspiring.

The siren costumes remind me of Keira Knightley's gardening outfit in Atonement (another movie well worth watching. While Keira's character isn't exactly the same seductress the sirens are in O Brother Where Art Thou, she does seem to be channeling the same type of clothing vibe.

I personally love both takes on sheer garments, and I hope to expand my closet with some new pieces inspired by both movies soon.

The Sirens seduce the main protagonists in O Brother Where Art Thou.

1. Self-drawn Notebook Cover. The notebook itself is from Muji for 100 NT
2. Bath Sugar in Snowy Sky from Muji (40 NT, reduced from 50 NT). The bath sugar smells like coconuts and they're a mix of white, pink, and blue sugar crystals.
3. Miss Dior Cherie Eau de Parfum. A birthday present from my parents!
4. Marina and the Diamonds CD. An early Christmas present from my parents. Ordered from Amazon with #5, below.
5. Classy by Derek Blasberg. A witty, fun guide of "exceptional advice for the extremely modern lady." Also an early Christmas present from the parents.

Happy Early Christmas! I will be in Osaka for five days, leaving on the 22nd of December. Finals have been a drag, and I still have three tests left. Let's go everyone! It will be soon that we can say 5 down, 0 to go!

{Marie Antoinette}

My current favorite movies are all directed by Sofia Coppola. Both The Virgin Suicides and Marie Antoinette, my two current raves, star Kirsten Dunst as the main character. I love the costumes, the locations, and the indie soundtrack.

{Birthday Wishes}

Credits: My Dad, a wonderful photographer!
My birthday was yesterday, and it was perhaps the best birthday in a while. Thank you all for the birthday wishes on Facebook, Twitter, and everywhere else. Another year older, yet I really don't feel a thing different!

{November!}

Credits: We Heart It

I've decided to write a blog post dedicated each month when they roll around the corner. I guess I'm sort of inspired by my friend, Julia, who is posting a blog post for every day of November (now that's real love). Since it's November, here's the top 5 reasons of L-O-V-E:

1. My birthday: My birthday is November 16, which is next next week. In fact, a lot of my friends and family have November birthdays. I don't know what I'm getting for my birthday, and I don't even know what I want in general in terms of presents. I'm turning 15, which isn't exciting, but in a way... I am beyond excited.

2. Taipei Golden Horse Film Festival: The Golden Horse Film Festival started yesterday, November 4th, and I'm going to go watch the film adaption of Kazuo Ishiguro's "Never Let Me Go" today! On the note of movies, Harry Potter 7, Part 1 (gimmick of money?) is coming out on the 19th!

3. The weather: Taipei gets especially cold at the beginning of November, and to me, it seems like it's freezing this year. I love cold temperatures, cozying up with hot chocolate, a good novel, and fuzzy socks.

4. Thanksgiving: This reason isn't really valid since I don't live in the US. We do, however, get a long weekend for Thanksgiving, which allows for a fabulous-to-come family vacation somewhere in western Taiwan.

5. Good books: It seems like this is more of a favorite of the month, rather than a reason why I love November. My current favorites are Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro and The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest by Stieg Larsson.

Happy November!

{Newly Minted.}

This is the first time I used this polish. It's Revlon's Nail Enamel in Minted. I love a nice minty green shade, even though I think that they should be reserved for spring or summer at the majority of times. It's alright, I still love it nevertheless!
