Under the Scope: Power Dressing,Cool Androgyny, and Archeitectual Scupltural

Hello hello everyone. Here i have a brief overview of my three favorite winter trends. They are all very versatile: play them up or down for a completely svelte and appropriate look.

1. POWER DRESSING

Power dressing and the 80’s revival are the focal point from the typical grunge/metal persona clouding the runways this season. Shoulder pads an exaggerated double-breasted detail have been seen on the runways of Paris. Alexander McQueen epitomizes the space age tinge that puts power dressing at its best. The scaffold like shoulder pads and stern color makes it a fine marriage to sheath dresses or that “Flashdance” cigarette pant that your hiding in the back of your pants drawer. Whatever it is, power shoulders give the image of complete-and cool- control.

2. COOL ADROGANY

The line between female, male, and unisex is wildly blurred this season. Grey pant suits, lapels, and patent black lace up brogues This pair of Christian Louboutin lace ups are a new LOVE of the season. To master the art of an androgynous look, pair these brogues with a narrow fit jean and a Fair Isle wool pull over. The key for achieving this look is not overdoing it: add a couple whimsical feminine touches such as a delicate necklace or a lace sheath.

3. ARCHITECTURAL STRUCTURAL

Bold shapes, geometric patterns: Autumn/Winter ’09 is about to get a little architectural. Flashes of bright colors, and the futuristic mix of sheer and opaque all contribute to this season’s most dominant trend. This Christopher Kane black tulle and ribbon skirt exuberates structural pieces. This trend is all about taking risks: add a touch of color in everything from makeup to jewelry.

au revoir,

adrienne.
