Summer Creations + Bulletin Board.

Since it's summer, I have a bunch of time that I can just relentlessly spend on making and creating little items.

I made three rings today!

The first one turned out a little like this...

My mom had some old leftover buttons from something she was working on herself, so I nabbed a few.

The next ring looks like this...

The third ring is by far my favorite, since I love things that sparkle. This button came off of one of my grandma's old coats, and by golly, I am loving it to death.

My inspiration came from this pair of Miu Miu Crystal Gloves (the ring is attached to the glove, how cool is that?)
TA DA!

I also made two more flowers, one in a darkish blue, and one in a buttercream yellow.

This blue one above is attached to a plastic black headband.

The buttercream yellow one above is attached to a plastic black clip.

You can see the clip in action above (;

I have also been adding onto my already always messy bulletin board. I've had this bulletin board since a while back, and it really has grown to become the statement piece of who I am. It defines me.

Oh, I am quite ashamed of what a mess it is!

Closeups of portions of my lovely bulletin:

A photo from our winter formal in seventh grade! Everyone looked so young back then. And it was only two years ago!

I've been watching the movie Coraline on HBO a lot recently and was sort of inspired to do this quite random water color a few days ago. It's what I imagine my "other mother" would probably look like.

The wonderful Prada Shanghai World Expo bags that my uncle graciously gave me. And the buttercream felt flower attached to the handles!

A metro card from NYC, a random sun I drew with markers, a Snoopy the Beagle pin, and the top portion of a candy gram (;

Two Snapple lids (one belonging to Pink Lemonade, and one to Lemon Iced Tea), a bunch of Harajuku Lovers by Gwen Stefani tags and postcards, and a portion of a Prada parfum ad that I picked up two years ago at the Prada store.

My name made out of perla beads that I created when I was over at my friend, Berry's, house. They have a lot of perla beads. Thanks Berry!

Saw this at the bookstore the other day and told myself that I had to get it. Obviously because "I Heart Lomo".

And because my love of David & Goliath Tees never will perish, a tag from one of their tee shirts. I have a total of three now. But heck, their shirts are overpriced, so I think I can stop at three.

Today I finished off another random project that I've been working on since last night. Here it is:

I have deemed her Lola.

Lola has real fake eyelashes on! They make her button eyes seem three times larger!

Look at how long Lola's lashes are! Believe me, that took a lot of hard work to get on. I took a pair of cheap 20 NT lashes and stacked them onto each other. Then, I took some Elmer's glue and glued the strip down (which, trust me, took about 20 minutes counting drying time).
Another something something that I did this morning (see, I have so much time on my hands):

The octopus' name is Ernie (:

Summer Update (WARNING: Word Heavy!)

Hello hello hello :)

Wow, its been two complete, non blogging weeks, and I've got to say... it sort of hurts! Anyways, here's a quick (actually now that I've read over the post, not really) overview of what I've been doing:

1. I went to Las Vegas! It was beautiful and so so SO amazingly lovely. Seeing that I haven't been in about two years (a.k.a the two years that I've since moved to Taipei), it was nice to see the change in hotels. I mean, two have sprung up (Aria and Vdara of City Center Resorts and Casinos) and numerous restaurants and buffets as well. My favorite part was definetly Miracle Miles Shopping Center right under our hotel, Planet Hollywood Hotel and Casino. There were tons of shops and restaurants and sights and sounds and... I think you all get the point. The second night I was there I watched LOVE: By Cirque du Soliel, which was at the Mirage Hotel and Casino. Perhaps the most creative and invigorating show in the entire world, the fusion of Beatles songs and classic Cirque wonder. My second time watching the show, I totally felt vibes that I didn't even feel the first time watching it. That's got to be a sign!! Also, the Chelsea Premium Outlets just 10 minutes off the Strip was DROP DEAD SHOPPING HEAVEN. There was also a Cosmetics Company Outlet which I have never been to, so that was superbly interesting. Picked up two items there (two MAC nail polishes: $$$$ Yes from the 2009 Winter Collection and Vestral White from the Hello Kitty Collection. Photos up soon, yes?)

2. I visited old friends (and maybe even sparked a summer romance? just kidding, but I totally wish) Seeing everyone brought back intense memories and an equal amount of melancholy tears. Some of these people I haven't even seen in... say two years as well? It was such a bittersweet reunion.

3. I have found many new favorites (both fashion-wise, cosmetics, and places to see). Here's a list of the things that I've been obsessing over this week and a half:

  • Tresemme Fresh Start Dry Shampoo (For Oily/Straight to Normal Hair): Leaves a weirdish white film but after combed out, it left super awesome shiny hair! Now I don't have to strip my hair and wash it every day? Yes ma'am :)
  • L.A. Colours Art Deco Nail Art Lacquer: Got this in the 75% off clearence at Forvever 21. Saw it in JulieG's YouTube video for one of her nail art tutorials. The purple one that I got made for a great plaid pattern nail design (paired over a backdrop of MAC's Vestral White polish)
  • Forever 21 + Danny Roberts Line: I love Danny Roberts SO much it's crazy, so when I saw that he was pairing up to do a line for Forever 21, I sort of went a little estatic (ask my mom, she said I jumped up and down when I saw the racks of tees and tanks for the line... thanks mom :\) Got a tank and a v-neck tee that were....*gulp*... $15 dollars each. But it was TOTALLY well worth it.
  • Soap and Glory's Sexy Mother Pucker Lip Gloss: It's so unfair to put this in this post since I don't usually talk beauty AT ALL (nail polish does NOT count)... but this lip gloss is totally to great to keep out of any of my blog posts. It's a clear gloss that plumps lips like CRAZY. No joke! The packaging is cheeky, reminscent of Benefit products, and the product is amazingly good. For only $9.99 at Target, the Soap and Glory line is lovely and an invigorating change from typical drugstore products.
  • The Grove, Los Angeles: Okay, it's sort of not fair to put this in since I've been going to the Grove since I was around 4 or 5, but this place is by far the best spot in Los Angeles, or actually, in the whole entire world. The place is old-American (think late 1940's for those of you who haven't been) with strings of lights and canas tents. There's also a Farmer's Market out in the back that has amazing Greek food. I reccomend going to the Grove no matter what age, where you live (wether it's your first time in Los Angeles or you're a local) the Grove is the best way to spend a summer evening, since it's so breezy. And the sunset is to die for! And they have a Zara! And a double decker bus that runs through it!

OKAY this post is WAYYY too long, but I sincerely apologize for the lack of posts... I've also come to notice that my blog posts have been discovered by other lovely bloggers. So follow Pretty Little Things if you enjoy my blogging and posts, and of course: leave comments! (Because I'm a sucker for comments and replying them ;D)

Love you all, and look forward to talking to you soon!

S/S '10 (New York/London)

Hello everyone!

I'm so excited to be previewing some looks for Spring/Summer 2010! The InFashion guides for S/S finally came out, and of course I had to get them both.

This post will soley concentrate on New York and London. I also purchased the Paris edition, but that will be summarized in another post.

Just a fine note, each guide was 450 NT (or about 14-15 US Dollars). So... that does add up to 900 NT (so doing the math, that would equal 30 US Dollars) BUT it is a huge investment (I really cannot emphasize enough) and will last you all the way until Autumn/Winter.

Here we go!

Spring/Summer '10: New York/London (Cover)

Marc Jacobs: Amazing start to New York Fashion Week. The collection was mostly blues, greys, and creams, but with watercolor prints (reminds me of Prada?)

Oscar de la Renta: Many ethnic prints and mustard yellows. Had a nesting doll vibe to it, in general. In love with the dress below.

Anna Sui:It feels like this collection was the only one that played with long-sleeved pieces (which could be a slap in the face for S/S collections) Enjoying the bubble skirt assortment of the collection.

Marc by Marc Jacobs: Taiwan is one of the only countries that houses a MBMJ boutique (not department store stand) I'm so excited to see all the merchandise come in. Obviously, bows are huge this season, so I guess Marc didn't take a plunge and ignore the trend. Otherwise, lovely collection that I'm looking forward to seeing in person.

Alexander Wang: I think he started the whole inner wear as outer wear phenom... and also reinvented the varsity jacket. Bravo for another succesful season!

Thakoon: Of course, of course. Bold prints at Thankoon are a must, right? Rather tribal looking, with the little wrap dresses.

Jason Wu: Hands down one of my favorite collections this S/S. The dresses are simple (how adrienne..) but quirky, even a little cool in ways. Love that first dress and its bubbly (literally) pattern.

Rodarte: Two of the most amazing designers who collaborate to form this delightful brand. One question, though. Why is everyone doing wrap dresses this season? (Getting a little unoriginal, are we?) In a bottle, Rodarte is still amazing, still young, and still has a stroke of engenuity.

Alexander Herchcovitch: Kindly, this line has two polar spectrums: simple cutout dresses and buffaunt shoulders. Love the third dress... reminds me of Russian dolls.

Alright that's it for New York...
Next is the showing of the 25th London Fashion Week!

Burberry Prosum: Ever since Emma Watson wore that short gold number from Prosum, I've been eyeing the fusion brand from the sidelines. I've got to say that the collection is a bit dry. Don't get me wrong, pastels are a staple during S/S, but is it necessary to base an entire season off of it? And do we need 10+ more belted empire waist trenches and coats? Nevertheless, Prosum spits out another season (much to my suprise).

Luella: A brand that hasn't been brought to my attention before. I love the hair, to be blunt. It's kooky and fun, and the eye makeup is daring and sharp. The clothes? Crisp and edgy at the same time (which is rare these days). Falling for that second pink chiffon number.

Matthew Williamson: First off, RIP Daul Kim (first photo). One of my sole idols, blogger, model, a person with a personality (yet again, how rare is that?) I believe this was her final show? Correct me if i'm wrong... CREATIVE prints, but not too original (?) Looks a little bit like vintage Missoni, not so sure.

Topshop Unique: Alas, Topshop has a collection at FW (thank God!) I love Tao in that blue hoodie. A fresh twist on S/S.

That's it for now. Stay tuned for part deux sometime this week!
